Put The Work Of Waiting Into Motion
Put The Work Of Waiting Into Motion | September 13, 2023
Any challenge you face in life requires work often unseen by others. If you want to graduate with honors, considerable study is necessary. If you want to excel in athletics, training off-season is essential. If you want to launch a business, sacrifice is a must. If you wish to have healthy relationships, you have to invest your time and be willing to put your pride aside. These examples and others like them are a reminder that work plus consistency equals success.
Your walk with God is no different. See, a fair amount of your faith journey will include steadfastness in waiting. Think of waiting as the work you must put in to move forward. In the same way that cracking the books on the weekends for extra study sessions or burning the midnight oil to do research for your new venture, or those extra reps and laps in the gym, or that additional time you spend with family pays off, so will your waiting on God. Your waiting is like a wise investment that will strengthen your position.
Psalm 37:34 says, "Don't be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway, and in due season, he will honor you with every blessing, and you will see the wicked destroyed."
Whether it's the battles of life like the Psalmist eluded to or your everyday grind of responsibilities, put in the work of waiting and trust God for the results.
Sadly, some misunderstand waiting as negative or counterproductive, but that's nonsense. G. Campbell Morgan said, "Waiting for God is not laziness. Waiting for God is not going to sleep. Waiting for God is not the abandonment of effort. Waiting for God means, first, activity under command; second, readiness for any new command that may come; third, the ability to do nothing until the command is given."
Knowing this, stay the course, put the work in of waiting on God, and "believe Him" for the outcome.
