Claim God's Promises When You Pray

Claim God's Promises When You Pray | January 12, 2024

In February 2016, a 63 million-dollar winning lottery ticket became valueless because it was unclaimed! Lottery rules state that the winner has 180 days to produce the lottery ticket. Interestingly, several false tickets and claims were submitted, but no prize has been given.
More significantly, the jackpot of God's promises goes unclaimed every day. We have been declared winners in Christ because of His finished work on the cross, yet we routinely live life without trusting in the blessings of God's promises. By way of our busyness, misplaced confidence, and sometimes faithlessness, we let the promises of God go unclaimed. To claim God's best for you, familiarize yourself with some of the critical assurances in the Scriptures.

Here are just a few:
God promises to preserve you. Psalm 41:2 says, "The LORD protects and preserves them—they are counted among the blessed in the land—he does not give them over to the desire of their foes."

God promises His power. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."

God promises His presence. Hebrews 13:5b says, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

God promises His protection. Psalm 12:5 says, "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them."

God promises His provision. Philippians 4:19 says, "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Typically, we expend much unnecessary energy on pursuing the wrong payouts. God will more than meet our needs if we are willing to trust Him, and that trust comes from clinging to the promises of God.
