We Accomplish More Together

In a Peanuts cartoon, Lucy demanded that Linus change TV channels, threatening him with her fist if he didn't. "What makes you think you can walk right in here and take over?" asks Linus.
‌
"These five fingers," says Lucy. "Individually, they're nothing, but when I curl them together like this into a single unit, they form a weapon that is terrible to behold."
‌
"Which channel do you want?" asks Linus. Turning away, he looks at his fingers and says, "Why can't you guys get organized like that?"

‌
While we are not advocating for unprovoked anger over TV channel choices, there is merit to Lucy's mindset. Just as our fingers curled into a fist can do more damage than just an individual finger, our lives, if invested together in a church context, can significantly impact an otherwise lost world. However, the key is getting on the same page, and the way to fulfill this necessary objective is by being united with the same level of thinking.
‌

First Corinthians 1:10 says, "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment."

‌
The Corinthian church had its share of self-inflicted drama. As a result, Paul reminded them to steer clear of division and unify by having the same mindset and discernment over all matters.
‌
We need to approach church and each other the same way. Let us agree on the primary truths of Scripture and make the praise and honor of Jesus our number 1 priority. Next, let us seek to serve one another and leave any judgmental attitudes behind.

By God's grace, we will accomplish more together when we think this way.
