Kind Words Promote Healing

Kind Words Promote Healing | February 24, 2024

Proverbs 16:24 says, "Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body."
‌

According to medical research, evidence suggests that the clinical use of honey in wound care promotes healing and is an anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-viral agent. Another study states that the sugar naturally found in honey helps draw water out of damaged tissues, reduces swelling, and encourages lymph flow to heal the wound.
‌
No wonder the Bible explains that kind words are like honey: good for the soul and body (Proverbs 16:24)!

Just as honey is sweet to the taste and refreshing for the body, so kind words, spoken sincerely, can work wonders.

For example, kind words can encourage and lift someone out of a dark place. Kind words can be timely and provide wisdom in a season of need. Kind words can be healing in that they bring comfort to a broken or grieving heart. Kind words can be motivating and push someone up who is down. Kind words can be corrective and give guidance to a friend who is on the wrong path. Kind words can be spiritual in that they impact necessary truth.
‌

To speak these kind words, you, "the source," must protect your heart and relationship with God. Proverbs 10:11 says, "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life."

One primary factor in being righteous is seeking to do what is right before God and others. When we have a moral compass that desires to honor the Lord and be helpful to others, we can have a tongue of righteousness and speak life over people.
‌

Knowing this, concentrate on having a vibrant walk with God. See, the more you model the attitude and actions of Jesus, the more you can speak kind words that promote healing.
