Look Up When You're Feeling Down

Look Up When You're Feeling Down | January 11, 2024

We've all been there at one time or another. The memory is one we wish we could forget. I am talking about going through a problem that mentally, emotionally, and, at times, physically drains your strength. See, the feeling of being beaten up by your circumstances can undoubtedly present an internal crisis. Rest assured, these reactions are normal.

However, staying in that rut is not! One of the reasons why we can't get out of the valley is that we are too busy looking in the wrong direction. Some are envious of the lives of others and can't understand why they don't have the same blessings. Others blame people around them for their hardships. Then, some are consumed with looking within themselves for answers. All of these directions represent a misguided focus.

Scripture teaches that we fight our battles on our knees, looking up to heaven in prayer.
Psalm 121 says, "I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven, and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. 4 Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord protects you; the Lord is a shelter right by your side. 6 The sun will not strike you by day nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life. 8 The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever."

The counsel of God says that we need to look up daily, especially when feeling down. Scapegoating our struggles or trying to make sense of our storms wastes time. The more you look for answers from a worldly perspective, the less peace you will have. However, the more you seek God, the more confidence and hope you will have.
Start now by taking the time to seek God in prayer. He does not take vacations from supporting and loving you. He is just a prayer away and continually provides refuge and strength for His children!
