Think Through Your Actions | September 18, 2023

How often have you caught yourself saying, "I should not have done that." Or, "I wish I knew this beforehand." That is why hindsight is always twenty-twenty when it comes to choices. However, you can make good and sound decisions by thinking through your actions. Proverbs 13:16 says, "Wise people think before they act; fools don't—and even brag about their foolishness."

You will regret it when your actions and words lack a wise thought process. That is why you must carefully consider the steps you must take, especially regarding significant life choices. Because the old saying is accurate, "Life Is A Matter Of Choices, And Every Choice You Make Makes You."
Therefore, why not spend time implementing a decision-making process involving healthy thinking?

For example, include several questions to ask yourself before moving forward, such as:
(1) Is this God's best?

(2) What does Scripture say?

(3) Who will be impacted by my decisions?

(4) Will there be a cost associated with my choices?

(5) Should I seek counsel for my plans?

These internal questions and others like them will provide a filter system and help to avoid foolish choices. But, unfortunately, perhaps more times than we care to admit, we make moves without seeking God or the help of others. Then, retrospectively, taking time to think through the issue would've been much better.

Knowing this, let us err on the side of wisdom and put a helpful and God-honoring process in place. Let us also help others to do the same. Making decisions can be an overwhelming burden at times. But, by God's grace, we will not become like the "fool" who brags about his unwise choices.
