Be Faithful Where You Are Now

Be Faithful Where You Are Now | January 2, 2024

The key to success in this New Year is to stop waiting or wishing for the opportunity to come and start putting in the work of faithfulness now. Consider your physical health. You may not have the ideal schedule to work out, but you need to be resourceful with your time. Another example is employment. You may need more skills to land your desired job, so schedule the time to improve. See, you may not be where you want to be, but you don't have to stay where you are, and the way forward is with faithfulness. Even in times of uncertainty, faithfulness will serve as a light for each step of faith that you take.

Throughout the Scriptures, many of God's people were faithful during the barren times of their lives. In addition to some Old Testament heroes like Abraham, Noah, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Nehemiah, Ezra, Daniel, Ruth, Josiah, and Jeremiah, the New Testament also displays characters who were faithful. Zechariah and Elizabeth were faithful even though they were childless. Luke 1:7 says, "They had no children because Elizabeth was unable to conceive, and they were both very old."

However, God miraculously answered their prayers many years later. Luke 1:13, But the angel said, "Don't be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John." Remember that when the angel visited Zechariah, he was serving God in the temple. Instead of being bitter or resentful, this couple remained faithful where they were, and at the right time, God amazingly blessed them with a son who would serve a pivotal role in the redemption story of the Messiah.
‌Faithfulness is what also describes Mary and Joseph. Notice that they obeyed all that Gabriel told them concerning the birth of Jesus. Luke 1:38, Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Matthew 1:24, "When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him."

‌Knowing this, be faithful where you are and wait for God to move you forward.
