Overcoming Evil With Good Decisions

Overcoming Evil With Good Decisions | October 31, 2023

A reality of this life is that evil is all around us. Whether it's abuse of children, addictions, corrupt leadership agendas, senseless violence, or terrorism, it seems to be on the rise these days with no breaks in sight! As a result, you will feel oppressed and potentially depressed. On a personal level, the solicitations of immorality and pulls toward instant gratification are a clear and present danger. These temptations can ultimately leave you guilt-ridden if you give in to the demands that evil will put on your character.

‌Knowing this, should we live with a defeated and discouraged mindset? Absolutely Not! See, when it comes to evil, both globally and internally, we have options that the devil doesn't want us to know about or use.

‌In his letter to the Church in Rome, the Apostle Paul urged the believers to honor God and to make proper ethical choices when dealing with others. In giving these instructions, Paul explained that you can conquer the evil around you and within you with good decisions. Romans 12:21 says, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

‌Examples of making good decisions concerning the widespread evil of our day would be praying for those in harm's way and for God's righteous protection and judgment to come. You can also seek to get involved with applicable opportunities to contribute.

‌Regarding your personal battle with evil, you can seek God for strength, reach out for help, increase your time in the Scriptures, fast, and look to change your routines.

‌See, as a believer, we shouldn't allow the evil of our day to intimidate us, nor should we fall victim to evil temptations because what God has put in us is greater than the evil around us. First John 4:4 says,  "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world."
