End The Year With Humble Expectations

End The Year With Humble Expectations |December 31, 2023

Have you noticed that sometimes humility gets a bad rap? Some think humility is a sign of weakness, but that couldn't be further from the truth. See, in God's spiritual economy, humility is the currency that causes the blessing of God to flow freely. We already know that God is gracious and able to bless His children. The only question mark is attached to us -- Will we be humble or proud? James 4:6 says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

Notice that God will keep the prideful at arm's distance, but He will bless the humble. This understanding is essential if you want to have a prosperous New Year.
‌Thus, as you close out another year and prepare for the next, a wise strategy is to believe in God with humble expectations. Think of an expectation as a belief.

For example, a humble expectation is to believe in God for provision. In Philippians 4:19-20 Paul declares, "And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen."

‌You can also "believe God" for protection as the psalmist did: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God" (Psalm 20:7).

‌You can "believe God" for peace. "The Lord gives his people strength; the Lord blesses his people with peace" (Psalm 29:11).

You can "believe God" for His presence. "Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence" (Ephesians 3:12).

You can "believe God" for pardon. "Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression" (Micah 7:18).

Finally, you can "believe God" for power. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment" (Second Timothy 1:7).

Once again, the key is to "believe God" with a humble mindset. Coming to God with demands or selfish anticipations is counterproductive. Believe God with humble expectation that He can bless and move according to His will.

Knowing this, believe God for great and wonderful blessings.
